Its been an exciting start to 2017 for Rebounders, with four nominations at two different national award ceremonies. Whilst awards are of course secondary to the excellent work done day in and day out by the staff with everyone who attends Rebounders, recognition for this work from governing bodies and other people across Wales is a great encouragement.
The first ceremony, both of which were held at the Vale Hotel just outside of Cardiff was the Welsh Gymnastics awards. This was a celebration of all gymnastic disciplines within Wales, with a mix of awards recognising contributions from grassroots volunteers across Wales through to elite performers in Olympic disciplines.
Rebounders were nominated in two categories, Inclusive Gymnastics and The Insport Award. We won in the Insport category, which recognised the work that Rebounders have done in making Trampolining as an activity and competitive sport accessible to all.

Similarly at the Disability Sport Wales award, held the weekend after, Rebounders were nominated in and presented with the Insport Club of the Year award. As the developers of the Insport classification DSW also wanted to reward Rebounders for becoming the first club in Wales to achieve Insport Gold Status.

Aimee and Lorna made it into the photo with the trophy, whilst Heather gave a short interview after the award, listen to the interview online. Heather herself was also nominated in the ‘Transforming Lives’ category, which featured incredibly stiff competition, with Debbie Bashford winning for her work with Caernarfon Celts Wheelchair Basketball Club. With strong representation from Paralympic athletes, the event was a real success and the company was especially inspiring.
Thanks to all at Disability Sport Wales and Welsh Gymnastics for organising the events and recognising the work Rebounders does.
